Its remit includes leadership of the Future Transport program, Open Data and Apps program, Customer Feedback Systems, the Transport call centre, the Opal customer experience and product roadmap, Customer channel transformation program, and customer facing digital initiatives.

Prior to joining Transport, Chris spent 15 years leading technology product development at companies including Nokia and Hewlett Packard.

Ken Boal is Vice President of Cisco Australia & New Zealand (ANZ). He has a twenty-year plus track record in the IT and Communications industry, supporting organisations in the public and private sector achieve transformational change powered by technology. Boal’s responsibility is to lead Cisco in ANZ to achieve growth and technology market leadership. Ken and his team support customers and partners implement new digital business innovations leveraging the Internet of Things and Fast IT, whilst addressing cyber security.

Boal is passionate and committed to working with business and the higher education sector to enhance Australia’s role in the knowledge economy, and the shift to the digital economy. Boal is the President of the Business/Higher Education (B/HERT) Roundtable and was appointed to the Commonwealth Science Council in October 2014.

Prior to joining Cisco, Boal spent 10 years at Anixter Inc/ NetStar, an Asia Pacific network systems integrator as Southern Region General Manager. Boal graduated from the University of Queensland in 1991 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Communications & Electronics).

He currently lives in Melbourne with his wife and three children.

Kevin is privileged to lead the strategy, innovation and technology direction in Australia and New Zealand for a world–class business. With the team, Kevin shapes Cisco's strategy to enable its customers to create value based on the technology platforms they build and the transformations they undertake. Kevin leads Cisco’s innovation agenda that includes VC investments, education, research engagement and IoT innovation centres in the region.

As CTO, Kevin spends a lot of time working with business and technology leaders both externally and internally within Cisco. As Cisco touches so many parts of the global technology industry and market, it places him in an ideal position to see what’s around the corner and most importantly, to share what is possible, from Cisco’s perspective.

Before joining Cisco 17 years ago, Kevin held senior positions with other telecommunications equipment manufacturers, systems integrators and service providers. Kevin is the author of six technical reference books.

Oliver Camplin-Warner was appointed Executive Director, Government and Not for Profit within Global Enterprise & Services on 1st January 2016. In this role, Oliver is responsible for leading Telstra’s business in the government and non-profit sectors and for ensuring Telstra provides its customers with world-leading customer service, products and solutions.

Oliver started his Telstra career in 2012 as Director of Business Development and in October 2012 this expanded and Oliver was appointed to Director of Field Professional Services and Business Development. In that role, Oliver was responsible for 2,000 Field Professionals, 150 contact centre agents as well as approximately 30 Business Development Professionals. The technicians fell into one of three operating areas, each with a different growth product focus - Enhanced, Wideband or Digital (DOT, NBN and Platinum).

Prior to joining Telstra in 2012 Oliver was the Head of Financial Services for IBM UK and held a number of senior management positions in his eleven years with IBM.

Oliver is married to Alisa, they have two children, a baby boy Felix and daughter Florence. Oliver and Alisa are also the proud co-founders of the charity Finnan’s Gift which was set up following the tragic loss of their son Finnan. Finnan’s Gift raises awareness and much needed funds for Congenital Heart disease.

Andrew Culley is the Managing Partner of Deloitte South Australia and has lived and worked in Adelaide for most of his life. In Adelaide, Andrew oversees two offices, 20 partners and over 200 professional staff providing services aimed at enhancing the economic prosperity of South Australia across both the private and public sectors including Deloitte Private family services, digital strategy & implementation, cyber security and Deloitte Access Economics in addition to the traditional compliance services.

Andrew is also a senior Partner in Deloitte’s Technology practice with 15 years’ experience as a Management Consultant. His career spans across the manufacturing and industrial sectors and his portfolio of clients has included private businesses through to large corporations and government entities.

Andrew specialises in reviewing businesses from both a commercial and operational perspective, and has a proven track record in developing and implementing information solutions that help businesses to compete in demanding and changing marketplaces. Over the last 3 years he has focussed on assisting B2C organisations understand the impact of Customer empowerment on technology strategy and the challenge of responding to the often competing priorities of disruption and regulation.

Andrew has also previously held management responsibilities for supply chain management, sales and marketing, customer service, information technology and financial performance.

Dr Jack R Dan GAICD

With over 18 years’ experience in providing advice, influencing and executing technology and business strategies, along with a background in diverse environments, ranging from start-up companies in Europe, to academia and large multinationals in Australia, Dr Jack R Dan brings new perspectives to addressing the challenges of the public sector, and ultimately delivering for the public.

Currently, Jack is the National General Manger for Government at Telstra, with responsibility across strategy and thought leadership, capability development, business relationship and engagement for the government sector.

Jack is also leading Telstra’s premier research and thought leadership program, Connected Government Program, assisting government leaders address challenges in policy development, service delivery, program implementation and government to citizen engagement.

In addition to his executive role, Jack holds non-executive positions and is an active member of several not-for-profit, industry and professional organisations, including Volunteering and Contact ACT, the Institute of Public Administration, the Australian Information Industry Association and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jack is an Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis, UC and holds several degrees, including a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Management, both from the Australian National University.

Michael is the CIO for Metro South Health in Brisbane, he is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland’s Business School. Michael is a Registered Nurse with post graduate qualifications in Intensive Care, Health Administration and Information Systems. Michael has practical experience in clinical, education, informatics and leadership positions across both the public and private sectors and has worked in health delivery roles in Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania. He has competencies in clinical service management, waiting list management, policy development, clinical information system implementation, program/project management, organisational governance and change management. He also has deep experience in the implementation, management and delivery of ICT and its benefits in hospital and healthcare systems, through working with clinicians to drive transformation and deliver outcomes.

Tim Fawcett

Tim Fawcett is the Director of Corporate and Government Affairs for Cisco Systems Australia and New Zealand Chair of Cisco’s Inclusion and Collaboration, Social Innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility Committees.

Tim is also the co-chair of Cisco’s Working @ Cisco initiative which aims to help Cisco become an employer of choice through a focus on diversity, inclusion and workplace flexibility, which Tim views as a cornerstone for a sustainable modern business and organisation.

Tim is also a Director of the Diversity Council Australia and the Victorian Government’s start up initiative, LaunchVic. He is also a Director of the children’s charity, Make a Difference (MAD) Foundation and an Advisory Board Member of the Melbourne Networked Society Institute at University of Melbourne. Tim is also an Ambassador for cancer research not-for-profit the Snowdome Foundation. Cheryl joined CSIRO Data61 in March 2016 as Group Leader - Government Business and Stakeholder Engagement.

In her role, Cheryl leads Data61’s strategic engagement activities with Commonwealth, State and Territory Government agencies across Australia, including supporting the identification of new data-driven research projects and initiatives.

Prior to joining Data61, Cheryl led the Australian Trade Commission’s (Austrade) digital technology investment attraction group, supporting international companies to connect into new opportunities in Australia. Her previous roles also include leading the Victorian Government’s life sciences investment activities and a role as Head of Investment for the Small Technologies Cluster (STC Australia), a small technology and medical technology focused start-up incubator in Melbourne.

With over 15 years’ experience in business development and investment attraction roles across government and industry, Cheryl has developed extensive networks within Australia’s technology, life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors and across Government.

This year marks Tim’s third decade in the Information & Technology arena, having worked in diverse fields which encompass hardware and software engineering, enterprise architecture & I.T strategy, solutions design and delivery, managed I.T services, networking and I.T operations (both from a service/technology provider and consumer perspective).

Since joining TT-Line in 2012 Tim led an initial review and subsequent transformation of technology, operations and the associated I.T operating model at TT-Line. This included leveraging cloud and dark site data centre services and now focusses on maturing information management, governance and business intelligence as mechanisms for improved strategic, tactical and operational decision making.

In executive management roles prior to joining TT-Line, Tim also led major I.T functions through the Suncorp/Promina group merger in what was has been referred to as largest I.T transformation and integration of its kind in Australian business history. The transformation resulted in Suncorp being awarded the prestigious Asia Pacific NetApp Innovator of the Year award for its adoption of Agile practices and operating process improvements which accompanied the technology transformation within the Suncorp group.

Prior to his management focussed roles Tim undertook an extensive technical career and as a regarded technologist with strong business and commercial acumen has been engaged by major technology such as IBM to provide input and direction to future product development such that new offerings will be delivered which better meet business needs.

He was previously Chief Analyst Public Sector for the UK–based research & advisory firm Ovum for 8 years. Prior to this he was the Deputy CIO for the Victorian State Government in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. His earlier career includes a range of consulting and executive roles in the government and utilities sectors in Europe and Australasia.

He has a doctorate in Management Studies from the University of Oxford and a First Class Honours Degree in Information Systems from the University of Otago in New Zealand.

Since founding Intermedium in 2004, Judy has become a highly regarded specialist on the government marketplace. As an independent industry analyst, she has an extensive understanding about both federal and state jurisdictions, and comprehensive knowledge on suppliers to governments.

Prior to her commercial sector experience, Judy spent almost twenty years in the public sector, predominantly in IT-related project management and business system roles. During this time, Judy managed major IT projects and procurements and was responsible for service delivery.

These roles included senior executive service roles within the Australian Taxation Office as well as a NSW government corporation; senior project roles at the precursor to Centrelink and senior project management roles at the Office of Asset Sales.

Judy was a Deputy Commissioner of Taxation when she left the Australian Public Service and has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

As a Federal government agency Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Architect and services transformation strategist, Marie has delivered significant technology, innovation and digital services transformation programs across taxation, business, social services, payments and immigration operations in the Australian Government.

Taavi Kotka

Chief Information Officer, Government of Estonia

Taavi Kotka is the Estonian Government’s Chief Information Officer known for leading the country’s e-residency program. He holds a Master’s of Science in Engineering from Tallinn University of Technology. One of his first contribution to the government was his “No Legacy” policy — currently used by all Estonian ministries — which dictates that all public IT systems be rebuilt from scratch every 13 years. This is necessary, he says, “technology, regulations, user habits etc are changing so rapidly that you have to continuously rewrite your stuff to avoid legacy phenomena.”

Taavi is also a Special Advisor to Vice President Andrus Ansip at the European Commission, where he advises the Vice-President on Digital Single Market issues and on e-governance in particular.

Mr Kotka started his career as a programmer, rapidly rising to Managing Director of the most successful software development company in the region – Nortal (then Webmedia). He is founder of many innovative start-up companies like zeroturnaround.com, plumbr.eu among others and belongs to SmartCap expert committee, the investment arm of the Estonian Development Fun, which invests into Estonian startups that have global ambitions.

He was is the recipient of the European CIO of the Year Award in 2014 (ICT Spring) , was President of the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL) and was elected as an Entrepreneur of the year in 2011 (by EY). Mr Kotka was also ranked at 12th in The Brightest Business Minds in North-Europe (2016 Nordic Business Forum) and listed in Computerworld’s Premiere 100 technology leaders 2016.

Michael Lye is Chief Operating Officer and the Deputy Secretary responsible for the Department of Social Services’ Corporate and Delivery Stream.

Michael leads the delivery strategy and operations, project management and deregulation and finance. He also heads the areas of legal, corporate services and information management and technology.

Michael has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology and a Master of Social Welfare Administration and Planning, both of which are from the University of Queensland.

Anil sets the vision and strategy for partnerships, investments and S+CC technology orchestration with our partner ecosystem. Anil also provides executive-level sponsorship for Cisco Country Digitalization

Acceleration (CDA) programs in Russia, South Korea, Israel, France, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, and India to help entire nations improve services delivery and data sharing.

Prior to joining Cisco, Anil was corporate vice president of strategy in Growth Markets at IBM, where he also held other critical global roles.

Anil holds a Ph.D. in marketing and statistics and was on the graduate faculty in marketing at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Anil was co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council (GAC) on the Future of Cities and participates in the GAC Future of Health. He serves on the board of directors for the Center for Customer Insights at the Yale University School of Management and is on the advisory board for the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.

John O’Haire is the Cisco Client Director for Telstra, he is responsible for Cisco’s partnership with Telstra a transformational partner globally, driving innovation creating new markets with differentiated offerings, built on world class networks and infrastructure.

During his 15-year tenure at Cisco he has held a range of sales and leadership roles including partner development, commercial sales, enterprise sales, public sector and most recently with Telstra in Service Provider. This wide-ranging experience gives him a unique ability to provide value and insight across the breadth of the Telstra and Cisco relationship.

Peter Scougall is the Chief of Staff for Telstra’s Global Sales team, with over 22 years’ experience in the Technology industry. Peter is the principal strategic advisor to the Group Managing Director with responsibility for executing a range of strategic projects to drive customer experience, productivity and engagement improvements. Trained as an accountant with an MBA (honours) and recent Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), Peter commenced his career in Telstra in 1992 and has worked in a multitude of areas including Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Customer Care and Sales. Peter’s in-depth knowledge of Telstra’s people, systems and processes allow him to ‘get things done’ and he recently led a team who was awarded the prestigious Oracle Communications Award for Innovation.

Jamie Snashall

Jamie has been deputy head of government relations at Telstra since November 2009. His responsibilities at Telstra include:

  • Government relations support for Telstra’s Federal Government team
  • Government relations support for Telstra’s new growth businesses, in particular Telstra Health and the company’s international expansion
  • Policy work on innovation and start-ups
  • Law enforcement and national security policy

He worked for Julia Gillard MP from 2001-04 as media and political adviser and for Victorian Attorney-General Rob Hulls MP from 2005-06. Prior to politics, he was a federal public servant in the ABS, the Department of Health, the Department of Environment and the Australian Greenhouse Office. He has also worked for various consulting firms, including Enhance Corporate, Professional Public Relations, Kreab Gavin Anderson and ERS Consultancies.

He holds a BA Hons degree from the ANU in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School.

His client base spans energy, financial services and public sector industries. Internally for Deloitte, Simon has a leadership role for People and Talent Development as well as the growth of our Clients and Industries Program.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Simon worked with PriceWaterhouseCoopers delivering IT business solutions throughout Australia, Asia and the United States.

Fran Thorn is an experienced consulting Partner with many prior years of experience and leadership in public sector organisations. She has been the Secretary (NT CE equivalent) of three government departments: Health, Human Services, and Innovation, Industry & Regional Development. She has also been a deputy Secretary in the Department of Premier & Cabinet and Under Secretary of the Department of Sustainability & Environment.

She is experienced in Commonwealth/State relations in health, environment and education. She has a deep understanding of the operations of public sector agencies and how they collectively perform to support government.

She has been involved in a number of major reorganisations – the most recent being the separation of the former Department of Human Services into two stand alone departments (Health and Human Services) and a subsequent redesign of the Health Department.

Dr Tony Warren has been Group Executive of Corporate Affairs at Telstra since March 2012. Reporting to the CEO, Tony is responsible for Regulatory Affairs, Government Relations, External and Internal Communications and Sustainability. Tony leads a team of some 180 experts across a range of fields. He has accountability for managing relationships with Telstra’s wide range of significant stakeholders, the external environment, staff communications and corporate reputation.

Between 2010 and 2014, Tony had primary carriage for engagement with Australia’s National Broadband Network, leading negotiations that culminated in a multibillion dollar deal to sell the Telstra Fixed Access Network back to the Australian Government.

Tony joined Telstra in 2002 and held a number of Regulatory positions until 2005 when he was appointed the Executive Director Regulatory Affairs for Telstra, a role in which he had primary responsibility for managing Telstra's regulatory issues and public policy positioning

Prior to joining Telstra in 2002, Tony was a Director of the Network Economics Consulting Group (NECG), where was instrumental in building NECG into Australia's premier regulatory economics consulting firm.

Tony has a PhD in Politics and International Relations from Australian National University. He is on the Board of the Australian Industry Group, Pivotal Labs and The Sydney Institute.

Tony lives in Canberra with his wife and three children.
